Escape to PHILLY! Mini-Tour Jan '10

Dearest RedHot,

I write to you aboard a glorious (though it be the dingier version) bus back from the historic city of Philadelphia: a land of Chick-fil-a, Wawa, Futuristic high schools, and quite frightening, rather noisy nursing homes. We are all currently returning to Yale from our weekend Mini-tour to Philadelphia with the Glee Club and the New Blue, and as I write this, people around me are sleeping, snuggling, and shtick planning for our upcoming jam!

We left for Philadelphia on Friday—finally reunited after a week not being on tour together! Friday night was full of surprises—after a much needed dinner in the hotel, we made our way up to 1818 for festivities with the Glee Club. 1818 was an experience in itself: a land of shushes, crowding, and with a lady across the hall who had to get up at six am the next morning. “But… we didn’t have anywhere else to go, and we weren’t coming back… so screw her!” Of course, we couldn’t be that cruel—so we proceeded down to the lobby for more festivity!

Exploring Philadelphia*

The next morning involved IHOP, Chick-fil-A, and two concerts—both at nursing homes. A quick ode to 58^th Street Presbyterian Home and all of its noises, alarms, and quirks! We can’t forget the cats…

The evening culminated in a performance with the Glee Club, New Blue, and a gospel choir. The men adopted pocket squares into their tradition by way of Pitch and Director Extraordinaire Adam Begley. We gave a dazzling six-song set—fantastic experience!! After blowing out our voices on “the rock will cry out and praise him!!” we headed to the Hannah LaPalombara’s!

There we enjoyed BUCKET OF NOUNS! And of course brownies, cookies, and a jam meeting! Erika, Kalyan, and Bezek battled against adversity and gave a respectable performance, despite team drop-outs. Katy WON OUT! Buck out of nouns CHAMP!

To name a few: Specer's Small Tool--the immovable and stately hair of Andrew Bezek--Mary's argyle socks--Freeburg's feet shoes--Hannah's sparkly bracelets of luck and spirit fingers--Spencer's drunker massages--thing--Smoksi the Russian Bear--the G flat refrigerator pitch pipe--that bitch Kalyan--Adam's massive sock collection--Katy's American Girl pajama pants--schmooze booze cruise--glory...

This morning we woke and gave a short set at Inglis House, before heading to Wawa and then boarding a bus for home! The rest is history, I suppose! And thus is Mini-Tour PHILLY!

Now we all return to the piles of work that stand before us… reading, papers, and of course shtick writing! See y’all soon!
